"Rock and Roll and Roll and Roll" is an audio artwork presented as a 12-inch vinyl album. The work features homemade recordings from various tribute drummers and fans of John Bonham, consisting of endless loops of the iconic opening bars of the drum shuffle from Led Zeppelin's "Rock and Roll." Each drummer’s interpretation of the original shuffle is retained, capturing virtuoso reperformances, unintentional imperfections, tempo variations, and added beats and deviations. Each rendition rolls along to the climactic moment of Bonham’s shuffle before transitioning to another drummer’s interpretation of the same introduction. By preventing the verse from ever arriving, the piece intentionally suspends musical progression, leaving the listener in a perpetual state of introduction and denying any musical resolution until the final beat is sounded.
